The Buffalo Bills won the AFC East for two seasons in a row after finally dethroning the New England Patriots. Now, the Bills are seeking a third-straight AFC East Division and enter the new season as a -225 odds favorite. The Miami Dolphins, at +450, are their closest competition, followed by the Patriots at +500.

The Bills are the consensus favorites to win Super Bowl 57 at +600 odds. You can also back them at +300 odds to win the AFC Championship. Despite stellar seasons for the past two years, the Bills failed to win the AFC and secure a spot in the Super Bowl. Everyone in the Bills Mafia thinks that this will really be the year that Josh Allen leads them back to the Super Bowl for a chance to exorcise all those demons from the 1990s.

2022 AFC East Odds
  • Buffalo Bills -225
  • Miami Dolphins +450
  • New England Patriots +500
  • New York Jets +2200

And then there are the New York Jets, bringing up the rear as usual. We’ll try to be positive this season and not poke fun at the #LOLJets. The bookies don’t have any faith in the Jets this season because they’re massive long shots at +2200 odds to win the AFC East for the first time since 2022. To put that into context, quarterback Zach Wilson was three years old the last time the Jets won a division crown 20 years ago.

Bills -225

The Bills were 13-3 in 2020 and went 11-6 last season, yet they were derailed in the postseason, missing the Super Bowl each time. The Bills lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round last year in what was dubbed the greatest NFL playoff game in the modern era. The NFL altered overtime rules because the Bills never had a chance to get the ball in overtime. That’s good, but doesn’t change the fact Allen never had a chance to answer Patrick Mahomes in OT.

The Bills will be road warriors to start the season, with four out of their first six games prior to the bye week being played away from home. The Bills face early tests on the road against the LA Rams, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, and a revenge game against the Chiefs in Week 6. The Bills have a somewhat easy stretch of eight games starting in November before ending the season with road games against the Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals, plus a tough home game against the New England Patriots in Week 18.

We don’t have too much faith in the Dolphins to usurp the Bills, which is why we love the Bills at -225 odds to win the AFC East. The Bills are tied with the Tampa Bay Bucs with the highest win total in the NFL at 11.5 o/u.

Dolphins +450

The Dolphins will ride or die with Tua Tagovailoa. If Tagovailoa can play an entire season without any serious health issues, then the Dolphins could win double-digit games and secure an AFC wild-card berth. But that’s a big if. New head coach Mike McDaniel is another offensive wunderkind. The Dolphins plucked him off the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, but McDaniel loves to think outside the box. We’ll see if the rookie head coach can handle the arduous task of being a head honcho in the NFL. It’s a copycat league, and the Dolphins are desperate to find the next Sean McVay.

The Dolphins could begin the season 0-4 with games against the Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals. Five of their final six games include four tough road games against the San Francisco 49ers, LA Chargers, Bills, and Patriots. They also host the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day. The Dolphins could end the season with a 1-5 clip with the Jets as their only easy game in the final six-pack of the season.

The Dolphins are +450 odds to win the AFC East for the first time since 2008. Based on their tough schedule, the Dolphins have a current win total of 9.0 o/u, and we like the under.

Patriots +500

The Patriots have only missed winning the AFC East three times since 2002, including in both of the last two seasons. Bill Belichick will try to jumpstart the dynasty, but it’s rare to see the Patriots listed as the third favorite in the division. The Pats clawed their way to a 10-7 record under rookie quarterback Mac Jones, and we expect them to do the same this year and claim an AFC wild-card berth.

The Patriots begin the season with three out of four games on the road, including the Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Green Bay Packers. They then have a mid-season breather with seven straight games against teams that missed the playoffs last year, including the Jets twice. The Patriots face a challenging end of the season starting December with home games against the Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, and Dolphins. Plus, they have tough road games against the Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, and Bills to close out the season in Week 18.

You can take a flier on Belichick and the Patriots at +500 odds to win the AFC East and upset the Bills. Oddsmakers installed the Patriots with a win total of only 8.5 o/u, and we love the over.

Jets +2200

The Jets crushed the 2022 NFL Draft, which is a huge surprise considering they usually screw it up every year. Gang Green had three first-round picks and selected CB Sauce Gardner (Cincinnati) at #4, WR Garrett Wilson (Ohio State) at #10, and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson (FSU) at #26. They also added RB Breece Hall, TE Jeremy Ruckert, OT Max Mitchell, and DE Michael Clemons.

However, the biggest news about the Jets this offseason were the rumors that quarterback Zach Wilson had sexual relations with his mother’s best friend. The truth bomb was unleashed by his ex-girlfriend at BYU, who aired Wilson’s dirty laundry on social media. The cougar memes blew up right away, despite Wilson denying the accusations. It’s never a dull day with the #LOLJets and their cougar-hunting, Mormon quarterback.

The Jets are +2200 odds to win the AFC East, but save your money. Bookies set the win totals at 5.5 o/u for the Jets this season. It’s going to be another long winter of discontent with Gang Green.

Earlier in the week, David Purdum from ESPN reported about an intriguing trend in which bettors are firing away at futures bets on the New York Jets to win Super Bowl 57 — currently at +13000 odds — which is shocking considering that bookies set an initial win total for the LOL Jets at 5.5 games.

Zach Wilson LOL New York NY Jets Super Bowl 56 odds futures bettors
Quarterback Zach Wilson will try to lead the Jets to their first playoff berth since 2010, but some bettors think Wilson and the Jets can win Super Bowl 57. (Image: Suzanne Greenberg/Getty)

As a die-heard and tormented fan of the Jets, there’s a lot of cognitive dissonance going on. In one sense, the LOL Jets are always going to be the LOL Jets so it’s absurd to think people would waste their money on a Super Bowl bet. On the other hand, this offseason has been one of the most hopeful for Gang Green in a very long time.

The Jets are currently +13000 odds to win Super Bowl 57 on DraftKings, or 130/1. They opened at +20000 when sportsbooks opened up futures shortly before Super Bowl 56 kicked off. That’s when the first bets on the Jets began to trickle in at sportsbooks in Las Vegas and offshore.

“I’m not too concerned about the Jets,” Tom Gable from The Borgata sportsbook in Atlantic City told Purdum.

Purdum reported that a bettor wagered $5,000 at 200/1 odds on the Jets to win Super Bowl 57, which would pay out a cool million bucks.

LOL Jets Win Total: 5.5 o/u

Both the New York Giants and New York Jets have been bloody awful the last five seasons. Both inept teams are tied for the worst record in the NFL at 22-59 since 2017. The Jets were 4-13 last season in the first year the NFL expanded the regular season from 16 to 17 games. In 2020, the Jets were 2-14 but couldn’t even table properly when they blew a chance to secure the #1 pick in the draft, which was Trevor Lawrence from Clemson.

The Jets had not been in the playoffs since 2010. He last had a winning season in 2015 when they went 10-6 under Todd Bowles. The team hired Robert Saleh to end their playoff drought and help instill a winning culture for Gang Green.

The Jets currently have a win total of 5.5 season wins. Yes, would you really want to back a team to win the Super Bowl that seems destined for a losing record? The optimist in me like the Jets to win at least six games this season. But the tortured LOL Jets fan that is teased mercilessly from friends is prepared for another season of misery and another winter of discontent.

The Jets do not have a favorable schedule in 2022. They square off against the AFC North to start the season, and aside from the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jets could potentially start the season 0-9 prior to their bye week in Week 10. The schedule eases up in December with home games against the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars, so that’s good news for the worst pessimists that the Jets will at least win one game this season.

The Next Bengals?

Bettors are always looking for value, and trying to find the next Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals were 4-11-1 in 2020 yet went 10-7 in 2021 and secured a berth in Super bowl 56. There’s always at least one playoff team that didn’t make the postseason the previous year. As a Jets fan, it would be awesome if the Jets could qualify as an AFC Wild Card team, but they lack the firepower to make a deep run.

And let’s be brutally honest — Zach Wilson is not even in the same league as Joe Burrow. Perhaps he can become a capable quarterback someday, but even the bulked-up Wilson still has a long way to go before he can lead the Jets to the promised land.

The Bengals are +2000 odds to win Super Bowl 57, but they’re only the tenth-highest team on the NFL futures board at DraftKings.

The Jets are +2200 odds to win the AFC East this season. The Bills are the favorites to win another division title at -225 odds followed by the Miami Dolphins (+450) and the New England Patriots (+500).

The Jets are +7000 odds to win the AFC Championship, and only the Houston Texans have worse odds.

Everyone knew that Antonio Brown marched to the beat of a different drummer, but no one expected that the Tampa Bay Bucs wide receiver would have a shirtless meltdown on the sidelines against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

During the bizarre incident, Brown had a spat with the coaching staff when he was informed he was not returning to the game in the third quarter. The Bucs were down 24-10 when Brown’s meltdown occurred.

Brown took off his helmet and shoulder pads while teammates tried to calm him down. He then ran down the sidelines and took off his undershirt, which he tossed into the crowd at MetLife Stadium. During a live play, a shirtless Brown scampered into the endzone and raised his arms, before running into the tunnel back to the locker room.

The Bucs defeated the New York Jets 28-24 in a come-from-behind victory spearheaded by Tom Brady, but Brown was already on his way to New York City in an Uber.

Apparently, Brown asked multiple NJ state troopers at MetLife Stadium for a quick ride to the airport, but the troopers declined. Brown didn’t fly back to Tampa on the team’s charter plane.

Brown dunzo with Bucs

Brown recently returned from a three-game suspension after he used a fake vaccination card earlier in the season.

Head coach Bruce Arians didn’t mince words in the post-game press conference.

“Brown is no longer a Buc,” said Arians. “That’s the end of the story. Let’s talk about the guys that went out there and won the game.”

Arians, who’s been a football coach for six decades, thought he’d seen it all. “Never seen anything like that in all my years,” added Arians.

Teammates seemed concerned, but understood that Brown’s actions weren’t up to snuff for a team trying to win back-to-back Super Bowls. “We all love him,” said Brady. “We care about him deeply. We want to see him be at his best. Unfortunately, it won’t be with our team.”

“I found out when we got into the locker room at the end of the game,” said Bucs running back Le’veon Bell, who was teammates with Brown in Pittsburgh. “I instantly sent him a text to try to catch up with him real quick. Obviously, I understand (that) things happen, but he’s one of my closest friends, a close teammate, overall a good person. Some bad decision-making at times, but he’s human and not perfect. We’ll continue to move on without him and keep moving forward.”

The defending-champion Bucs improved to 12-4 on the season with their comeback win against the Jets. The Bucs currently occupy the #3 seed in the NFC Conference playoffs with one week remaining in the regular season.

AB’s Hollywood meltdown

Brown’s bizarre incident at MetLife Stadium was something out of a Hollywood sports movie. It instantly reminded me of the strip-tease scene at the end of “Slap Shot,” when Ned Braden (Michael Ontkean) refused to resort to thuggish “old-time hockey tactics,” taking off his uniform and skivvies instead.

The Brown meltdown was also reminiscent of “The Royal Tenenbaums,” when pro tennis star Richie “The Baumer” Tenenbaum (Luke Wilson) had an on-court implosion at the US Nationals. Tenenbaum took off his clothes in the middle of the match because he was heartbroken when his adopted sister, Margot, got engaged to an older man.

It’s been another winter of discontent for Gang Green, so it’s not surprising that Santa Claus gifted them another setback. Robert Saleh, the Jets’ rookie head coach, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh COVID

Saleh is one of four NFL head coaches to test positive for COVID this season, along with Sean Payton from the New Orleans Saints, Kevin Stefanski from the Cleveland Browns, and Nick Sirianni from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Saleh is showing multiple symptoms, so he’s expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ron Middleton, the tight-end coach, will take over as interim head coach for the Jets on Sunday.

“I’m not reinventing the wheel here,” said Middleton. “I’m just trying to steer the ship, keep the ship steered in the right direction. So far, no issues. Hopefully, it stays like that.”

The Jets (3-11) and Jaguars (2-12) will meet in what’s being dubbed as the Poo Emoji Game of the Week. The Jets and Jags are among the NFL’s worst four teams and bottom feeders along with the Detroit Lions (2-11-1) and Houston Texans (3-11). The Jaguars fired head coach Urban Meyer last week and lost to the Texans in Week 15.

The Jets opened as a -1 favorite over the Jaguars. After news broke about Saleh and COVID, the line moved to a pick’em. If you like to bet the under, the total is 41.5 o/u and dropping.

Another year, same old crappy Jets

If the season were to end today, the Jets would earn the #3 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. If the Jets lose to the Jaguars in Week 16, they’ll move into the #2 spot. The Jets chose not to tank last season and it cost them the #1 pick. Instead of selecting Trevor Lawrence with the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jets settled on Zack Wilson, who has been completely underwhelming in his rookie campaign.

Despite a dreadful record, the players adore and respect Saleh. He has the opposite personality of ex-head coach Adam Gase and he has a much stronger relationship with players, especially the veterans. Saleh is trying to instill a winning culture, but it hasn’t yet translated into actual victories.

Saleh turned around the vibe in the locker room, but he’s yet to transform the Jets into a winning team. The numerous injuries to key defensive players didn’t help the cause, but the Jets are in bad shape any way you cut it. Saleh was touted as a defensive guru, but the Jets didn’t scare a single team this season. Their Swiss cheese defense allows 30.6 points per game, the worst in the NFL. In terms of advanced metrics, the Jets have the worst DVOA in the NFL and are ranked #32.

Under Wilson, the LOL Jets field the sixth worst offense in the NFL, averaging a paltry 17.9 points per game. Their rushing attack is the third-lowest in the league, generating only 85.4 yards per game.

We’re looking at the usual suspects once again in this week’s Home Dog Alert. NFL Week 14 home dogs include the Houston Texans, New York Jets, Washington Football Team, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

NFL Week 14 Home Dogs Dog Jets WFT Texans Bengals

It’s no surprise to see the Jets and Texans listed as home dogs once again. They’re two of the worst teams in the NFL and bottom feeders in the AFC with next to zero leverage in their home stadiums.

NFL Week 14 Home Dogs
  • Houston Texans +8.5
  • New York Jets +5.5
  • Washington Football Team +4.5
  • Cincinnati Bengals +1.5

Home dogs went 3-5 against the spread last week when more than half of the scheduled games featured home underdogs. Betting-wise in the NFL this season, home dogs are 37-43 ATS.

Houston Texans +8.5

The Seattle Seahawks (4-8) ended an ugly slide with a big win against the San Francisco 49ers last week. The Seahawks have a chance to begin a winning streak when they head to Houston to play the lowly Texans (2-10). The offensively-challenged Texans have a -159 point differential, which is the worst in the NFL. The two-win Texans have an inside track to the #1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and it realistically looks like they could finish the season at 2-15. The Texans are 5-7 ATS overall, but 3-2 ATS as home dogs this season.

New York Jets +5.5

The Jets (3-9) opened as +4 home dogs, but it’s been nonstop money on the New Orleans Saints (5-7) since Sunday evening. The Jets are currently +5.5 home dogs, and that line could continue to move toward +6 or more. There’s no love for the LOL Jets these days, especially at MetLife Stadium.

We love to fade the Jets. It’s one of our favorite blind betting moves because the LOL Jets haven’t shown any semblance of competence in the past few seasons. The Jets are 3-9 ATS this season, but you booked a profit with a 9-3 clip by fading them every week. In case you’re wondering, the Jets are 2-4 ATS as home dogs this season.

Washington Football Team +4.5

Washington won four games in a row to pull even at 6-6 on the season thanks to Taylor Heinicke, who did a bang-up job replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick. FitzMagic is dunzo for the season and facing hip surgery, so WFT will ride or die with Heinicke the rest of the way.

With a four-game winning streak on the line, the Dallas Cowboys (8-4) are coming to Washington, DC for a fierce divisional battle. The Cowboys have a two-game lead in the NFC East standings, but an upset win by Washington could put them in contention for a division title. Washington has five games remaining — all against NFC East foes — including two games in the next three weeks against the Cowboys.

Washington opened as +4 home dogs, but the line ticked up a half-point to +4.5. The Cowboys are the second-best against the spread in the NFL at 9-3. Washington is only 5-7 ATS this season.

Cincinnati Bengals +1.5

It’s a little weird to see the Bengals (7-5) listed among the home dogs in Week 14, especially against a non-conference opponent. The Bengals opened as a -3 favorite over the San Francisco 49ers (6-6) when oddsmakers posted the opening line on Sunday. Early money backed the visiting Niners, moving the line toward a pick’em after word got out that Bengals QB Joe Burrow suffered a dislocated pinky finger in Week 13 in a battle against Justin Herbert and the LA Chargers. The Bengals are currently +1.5 home dogs, but this line could easily fluctuate the other way and return to a pick’em or even push the Bengals back over as a favorite.

The Bengals are 6-6 ATS this season, but only 3-3 at home in Cincinnati. The 49ers have a losing record against the spread at 5-7, but they’re 4-2 on the road this season.

More than half of this week’s NFL schedule is loaded with road favorites and home dogs, including the New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Seattle Seahawks.

It’s no surprise to see the usual suspects listed as home dogs, including the winless Lions, inept Jets, terrible Texans, and faux pas riddled Falcons. But Week 13 home dogs also include the Saints on Thursday Night Football and the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football.

NFL Week 13 Home Dogs
  • TNF: New Orleans Saints +6
  • Detroit Lions +7
  • Chicago Bears +7.5
  • Atlanta Falcons +11.5
  • Houston Texans +10
  • New York Jets +7
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +4.5
  • SNF: Seattle Seahawks +3

At least five home teams are spotted a touchdown or more in Week 13, with the Texans and Falcons double-digit home dogs.

Home dogs are only 34-38 in the NFL season, but overall underdogs are 97-80-1 this season. Road teams are an astonishing 101-78-1 this season, with home-field advantage no longer a factor for many NFL teams.

Saints +6

The Saints (5-6) are a hot mess. Sean Payton hopes that Taysom Hill will inject some life into the offense. He tapped Hill to start against the Dallas Cowboys (7-4) on Thursday Night Football. The Saints won’t have Alvin Kamara once again after he missed the last couple of games with a knee injury. The Cowboys have a strong betting record at 8-3 ATS this season and are tied for second-best in the NFL. The Saints are 5-6 ATS.

Lions +7

Every week we think, this could finally be the week that the Lions (0-10-1) break through and secure their first win of the season. Ah, maybe not this week. The Minnesota Vikings (5-6) won’t have Dalvin Cook, who has injuries to both shoulders, but even without him, the Vikings are still a much better squad than the lowly Lions. The Lions have yet to post a win, but they’re 7-4 ATS this season.

Bears +7.5

The Bears (4-7) host the Arizona Cardinals (8-3), who are fresh off a bye week and expect to have Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins back in the lineup. But the Bears are so bad that the Cards should still whoop them without their starting quarterback and top wide receiver. Murray sat out for a month and he’s itching to play, but the Cardinals also have the postseason to consider. Colt McCoy went 2-1 as a starter in place of Murray, so it’s not the end of the world if they decide to rest him for one more week. Hopkins missed the last three games with a hamstring injury, but the veteran is in no rush to return. The Cards are 8-3 ATS this season, while Da Bears are 4-7 ATS.

Falcons +11.5

The Falcons (5-6) are 1-4 in Atlanta this season and fare much better on the road, which is sort of sad. It does, however, explain why the Dirty Birds are +11.5 home dogs in Week 13 against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs (8-3). Betting on Brady hasn’t been a profitable venture this season because the Bucs are 5-6 ATS.

Texans +10

You know it’s bad when your team loses to the New York Jets. Ouch. The Texans (2-9) are fighting for the #1 seed in the 2022 NFL Draft. They host the Indianapolis Colts (6-6), who are a much better team than their record indicates, with a couple of tough losses against good teams. The Colts are 7-5 ATS this season.

Jets +7

Yes, the LOL Jets (3-8) are home dogs at MetLife Stadium once again. Expect a lot of Philadelphia Eagles (5-7) fans to drown out the boobirds in this de facto home game for the Eagles. The Jets are the worst team in the NFL once again against the spread with a 3-8 ATS record. We love fading the Jets, and this week is no exception.

Steelers +4.5

The Pittsburgh Steelers (5-5-1) can’t wait for this season to end and to give Ben Roethlisberger a watch at his retirement party so they can focus on rebuilding the team from scratch, starting with a new quarterback. If Big Ben were an old dog, he would have already been shipped upstate to live on grandma’s farm. The Ravens (8-3) and Steelers usually play fierce, smashmouth football battles in the trenches, so we’ll see if the Steelers make one major final stand this season. Bookies and gamblers aren’t betting on that though, which is why the Steelers are +4.5 home dogs.

Seahawks +3

The Seahawks (3-8) were in trouble before Russell Wilson injured his finger. He probably should have sat out a couple of more weeks and waited until his finger was better before he returned because he’s been utterly awful in his last couple of games with some of the worst performances of his career. The San Francisco 49ers (6-5) smell blood in the water after the LA Rams lost three games in a row, so they don’t want to squander an easy divisional win against the wounded Seahawks on Sunday Night Football.

The second half of the NFL season is upon us and there are five home dogs in Week 10, including the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, the Washington Football Team, Las Vegas Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers.

Three home dogs will see action during nationally televised games in Week 10. The Miami Dolphins kick off this week as a home dog against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. The Las Vegas Raiders host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in Sin City, and the San Francisco 49ers are a home dog at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara for a Monday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

NFL Week 10 Home Dogs
  • Miami Dolphins +7.5
  • New York Jets +11.5
  • Washington Football Team +9.5
  • Las Vegas Raiders +2.5
  • San Francisco 49ers +4

Overall, underdogs are 77-58-1 in the NFL this season, winning at a 57% clip. Home dogs are 24-24 against the spread this season, but are only 16-32 straight up.

TNF: Miami Dolphins +7.5

The Dolphins (2-7) host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens (6-2) in Miami on a short week. If the postseason were to begin right now, the Ravens would earn the #2 seed in the AFC playoffs.

The Dolphins allow 26.9 ppg and are ranked #6 among the worst-scoring defenses. They also have the fifth-worst offensive DVOA in the league and average just 17.2 ppg. Both teams are in the top 10 for the worst defensive DVOA, with the Dolphins ranked #25 and the Ravens ranked #26.

The Ravens have the best rushing attack in the NFL, averaging 161 yards per game and they should feast off of Miami’s porous run D, which is ranked #30 in rushing DVOA.

The Dolphins are 3-5-1 ATS overall this season, but 0-2 ATS as home dogs this season.

New York Jets +11.5

What can we say about the LOL Jets (2-6) that we haven’t said before? At least Robert Saleh is starting the right guy at quarterback. Mike White missed last week with a finger injury, but he’s the starter going forward. Rookie Zach Wilson is dinged up and simply not ready to play in the NFL, whereas White demonstrated he’s the better game manager and stronger candidate.

The Buffalo Bills (5-3) dropped two out of their last three games, but is this just a mid-season slump, or is it a sign of something more alarming? The Bills were upset by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, so you can expect they’ll be ready to destroy the Jets this week as -11.5 favorites.

The Jets are 2-6 ATS this season, but 2-1 ATS as home dogs this season.

SNF: Las Vegas Raiders +2.5

Sunday Night Football features a wild AFC West showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) and the Las Vegas Raiders (5-3). Each team in the division has five wins, so the AFC West title is wide open. That’s why this Chiefs/Raiders game has high-stakes implications on SNF.

The Raiders are 1-0 ATS as a home dog this season, but 3-1 ATS as an overall underdog this season. The Chiefs are one of the worst betting teams in the NFL with a 2-7 ATS clip.

Kansas City is ranked #28 in defensive DVOA this season, which isn’t surprising. The Chiefs always had a lackluster defense, but their insane offense always bailed them out of trouble. Now that the offense is struggling, the Chiefs are hopelessly mediocre.

MNF: San Francisco 49ers +4

On Monday Night Football, a couple of NFC West rivals will meet when the San Francisco 49ers (3-5) host the LA Rams (7-2). The Rams are fighting the Arizona Cardinals for the division crown, while the 49ers are trying to figure out if they have enough chutzpah to make a run at a wild-card berth.

Expect a defensive chess match on MNF. The Rams are ranked #2 in defensive DOVA, while the 49ers are ranked #6 despite allowing 25.6 ppg.

The 49ers’ defense will have their hands full slowing down Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp. Stafford leads the NFL with 2,771 passing yards and is ranked #2 with 23 touchdowns. Kupp leads the league in receptions (74), touchdown receptions (10), and yards (1,019). The Rams are ranked #4 in offensive DVOA and average 29 ppg for fifth-best in the NFL.

The 49ers are 2-6 ATS this season.

Washington Football Team +9.5

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs (6-2) visit DC this weekend to take on a Washington Football Team (2-6) that lost four games in a row. WFT is 0-5 ATS as an underdog this season, and you can expect them to go 0-6 ATS after the Bucs (ranked #1 in offensive DVOA) steamroll them.

If you’re looking for NFL betting trends and horrible teams to fade, then keep an eye on the Washington Football Team who are 1-7 ATS this season and only 2-6 straight up. The New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, and WFT were all fade worthy as the worst ATS teams in the first half of the season.

The LOL Jets are at it once again with a 2-6 record ATS, which made fading them a profitable pursuit through the first eight weeks of the season. You expected the Jets to stink, but it’s an utter shock to see the Kansas City Chiefs with the same 2-6 ATS record.

NFL BETTING TRENDS – WORST ATS TEAMS
ATS S/U
Washington Football Team 1-7 2-6
New York Jets 2-6 2-6
Kansas City Chiefs 2-6 4-4
Jacksonville Jaguars 2-5 1-6
San Francisco 49ers 2-5 3-4

The Miami Dolphins bubbled the list with a 2-5-1 ATS record through eight games. The Tampa Bay Bucs, the defending Super Bowl Champions, are 6-2 straight up this season but only 3-5 ATS.

WFT 1-7 ATS

The Washington Football Team has a bye in Week 9, which they desperately need after losing four games in a row. Next week, they host the Tampa Bay Bucs and luckily they have an extra week to prep against Tom Brady. Washington gives up the sixth most points (28.4 ppg), and they struggle to score with only 19.5 ppg. As far as betting trends go, WFT is the worst ATS team in the NFL with a 1-7 record. If you fade the WFT, then you’re 7-1 this season.

Jets 2-6 ATS

The LOL Jets (2-6) shocked the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals this season with two upset victories, but they’ve been 0-6 ATS in the remainder of their games. You know how much we love to fade the LOL Jets, which is one of the most popular betting trends available with a 2-6 ATS record this season. The Jets were plagued with injuries on defense, so it’s no surprise they have the worst defense in the NFL that allows 31.4 ppg. The Jets are also on a bye in Week 9, which gives them extra time to prep against the Buffalo Bills in Week 10.

Chiefs 2-6 ATS

The Kansas City Chiefs (4-4) entered the season as one of the favorites to win Super Bowl 56. After a slow 1-2 start, the Chiefs tumbled out of the top spot on the futures board. Yet the Chiefs continue to disappoint bettors with a 2-6 ATS clip. Bookies love the fact that the public overvalues the Chiefs, even though week-after-week bettors are still firing away on Mahomes and company in hopes that this is the week they turn around their woes. The Chiefs caught a break in Week 9 when Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19, but can they cover -7 against backup Jordan Love in his first start?

Jags 2-5 ATS

The Jacksonville Jaguars won only one game this season, but find themselves home dogs once again, where they’re 0-4 ATS. On Sunday, the Super-Bowl favorite Buffalo Bills spot the lowly Jags +14.5 points, and that still might not be enough to keep up with Josh Allen and the high-octane Bills.

49ers 2-5 ATS

The San Francisco 49ers (3-4) host the Arizona Cardinals (7-1) in a tough NFC West divisional matchup in Week 9. The 49ers are favorites because Kyler Murray (ankle) is banged up and not expected to play, even though his ultimate status will be a game-time decision.

The NFL returns to the United Kingdom for games in London after a hiatus last season during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this year’s London games are lackluster once again with the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons meeting this Sunday in Week 5, and the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Miami Dolphins next Sunday in Week 6.

The NFL has yet to send an impressive team to London in nearly 30 games. In some odd twist, every game so far has featured losing teams. Then again, with the Jacksonville Jaguars usually hosting one of the London games, it’s been an unlucky draw every year.

NFL 2021 LONDON GAMES
  • Week 5: New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons
  • Week 6: Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars

There’s been rampant speculation that Jaguars owner, Shad Khan, will move the team to the UK as the first-ever non-American team in the NFL. The London Jaguars have a nice ring to it.

One of these days, the Jaguars will play a proper NFL team in London. Too bad the NFL does not export the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs game this week, because Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen will put on a spectacular show and demonstrate to a stadium full of American football fans what supreme offenses looks like.

New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons

The first game back since 2019 is one of the stinkers on the schedule. If you ask me, the Jets/Falcons game between two of the worst teams in the NFL, is the Poo Emoji Game of Week 5.

The Jets are fresh off their first win of the season and they celebrated like they won the Super Bowl, because when you’re a member of the sad-sack LOL Jets, you do not win too many games. Last season, the Jets won too many games to qualify for the #1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and missed out on the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. The Jets selected Zach Wilson with the #2 pick and the rookie finally looked halfway decent in a victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 4.

The Falcons would be a winless team if they didn’t luckbox a victory against the New York Giants in Week 3. Matty Ice looks like Matty Room-Temperature Water through the first four weeks of the season, which is a shame because Matt Ryan was an NFL MVP candidate only a few seasons ago. He will be without top wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who is excused for a personal issue. He will not make the flight to London. Russell Gage is also out with a sprained ankle, so Ryan will not have his top two wideouts in London.

The Falcons are -3 favorites over the LOL Jets, which will kick off in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday at 2:30pm local time, or 9:30am ET/6:30am PT.

Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars

Next week, the Jaguars will host their annual game across the pond in a battle of crappy teams. Bollocks! Toss that game full of wankers in the rubbish bin.

The winless Jags are an underdog against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5, so there’s a good chance they’ll be 0-5 when they take the field at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Sunday in London. At least NFL fans in the UK and Europe will get a glimpse at Trevor Lawrence, the #1 pick in the most-recent NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins won their first game of the season, but lost three in a row. They should stumble into London with a 1-4 record next weekend and riding a four-game losing streak. The Dolphins face the Tampa Bay Bucs this Sunday, and the Bus are our primary Survivor Pool pick in Week 5. Tua Tagovailoa has been out with fractured ribs. The Dolphins starting quarterback expects to return in time from the London game.

We have five home dogs in NFL Week 4 action, including the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, and Atlanta Falcons. It’s not surprising that, for the second time in three weeks, the LOL Jets are home dogs once again.

The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Bucs visit Foxboro for the triumphant return of Tom Brady against his old team and former head coach. The Brady and Bill Belichick reunion will be frosty, especially since the struggling Pats have a losing record, and the Bucs are the current favorite to win the Super Bowl.

NFL Week 4 Home Dogs
Matchup Line
Tennessee (2-1) at New York Jets (0-3) NYJ +7
Kansas City (1-2) at Philadelphia (1-2) PHI +7
Tampa Bay (2-1) at New England (1-2) NE +6.5
Cleveland (2-1) at Minnesota (1-2) MIN +2
Washington (1-2) at Atlanta (1-2) ATL +1.5

In Week 3, home dogs went 2-2 against the spread, but only 1-3 straight up. Overall this season, home dogs are 9-8 ATS and 6-11 SU.

New York Jets +7

The LOL Jets (0-3) are fade-worthy material once again this season, so it’s not surprising to see them listed among the home dogs. The Tennessee Titans (2-1) are a popular Survivor Pool pick this week, even though they’re on the road. When you play the Jets, even at MetLife Stadium, they’re so bad that home-field advantage isn’t even a factor.

The Jets are the lowest-scoring team in the league with 20 total points this season. They were blanked by the Denver Broncos last week, and they scored only six points against the Patriots in Week 2. Things are so bad with the Jets that you can find tickets for as low as $10 on secondary sale sites.

Philadelphia Eagles +7

The Kansas City Chiefs (1-2) are off to their worst start since Patrick Mahomes took over at quarterback. Sure, it’s a long slog with a 17-week season, but the Chiefs need to get their crap together. The Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) are the perfect team to help Mahomes and KC bust out of their funk.

The Eagles’ sole win happened in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, but they’ve dropped two in a row since then, with their defense allowing 29.5 ppg in both their losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.

New England Patriots +6.5

Brady and the Bucs (2-1) return to Foxboro in Week 4, which is the last thing Belichick needs when he’s still trying to tighten up the New England Patriots (1-2).

The Pats boast a solid defense that allows only 17 ppg, which has them ranked #5 in defensive scoring. But their lo-fi offense will be challenged to keep up with Brady and the high-octane Bucs. The Bucs are tied with the Arizona Cardinals for most points (103) and highest scoring average (34.3 ppg) The Patriots have the seventh-worst offense in the NFL, which is scary because the teams ahead of them are the LOL Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, and Chicago Bears.

It’s rare to see the Patriots as a home dog, especially by almost a full touchdown. It’s even rarer to see a former player get the best out of Belichick. If anyone knows how to stop Brady, it’s Belichick, but that hasn’t stopped the market from backing the Bucs. Everyone outside of New England wants to see Belichick eat crow, and Brady is ready to give him a huge serving of it.

Minnesota Vikings +2

The Vikings (1-2) secured their first win of the season against the Seattle Seahawks. They looked good last week, even without running back Dalvin Cook. Cook is expected to return to action in Week 4 when Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns (2-1) visit the twin cities.

A buddy of mine, who’s a Vikings season ticket holder, recently said, “In an alternative universe, the Vikings are 3-0 this season.”

He has a valid point. The Vikings lost two close games by a total of four points, including a last-second field goal against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.

Kirk Cousins gets a lot of guff, but he’s leading an offense that’s ranked #8 overall with 29 ppg. Cousins completed 74% of his passes this season with eight touchdowns and zero interceptions through three games. Only three other QBs threw more touchdowns than Cousins this season — Brady (10), Mahomes (9), and Matthew Stafford (9) — but the trio has six interceptions among them.

Atlanta Falcons +1.5

The Atlanta Falcons (1-2) and Washington Football Team (1-2) could easily flip positions over the weekend if there’s anyone foolish enough to back Atlanta. Sure, the Falcons won their first game of the season, but they defeated the New York Giants in Week 3’s Poo Emoji Game of the Week. If the Falcons didn’t win that game, you’d expect them to be a dog by a field goal or more. At least the dirty birds won a game, unlike the Giants and Jets.

Washington’s backup quarterback, Taylor Heinicke, continues to fill in for Ryan Fitzpatrick. We used to refer to Matt Ryan by his ultra-cool “Matty Ice” moniker, but these days Ryan plays like Matty Melted Ice Cubes.

The Falcons and their fourth-lowest scoring offense have been outscored 94-48. Only the Jets have a worse point differential than the Falcons at -46.
